East coast 2016, day 11

June 27, From Mactaquac Provincial park NB, to Oak Bay, NB
The plan was to head to Saint John and from there to go to Oak Bay by the coast, but the road from Saint John to Oak Bay is mostly highway, so I decided to turn back in land and take more local roads toward Oak Bay.

After two and half hours of riding I stopped in a little town called Gagetown to rest.  There was road constructions in the center of the town and couldn’t find the picnic area but I found this place in front of the town hall and fire hall.  Looks like lots of people of had a lot of fun partying in the past weekend.  There was Folly Fest happening there.

Next stop, on the side of the road to check the scenery and an old bridge beside a new bridge.

Today I’m taking part of the River Valley Scenic Drive from Fredericton to Saint John. The route is marked with this green sign.

I’m curious why they leave some specific trees behind after logging trees in an area!

Shortly after I hit another gravel road and this time a rough one.

As soon as I got to paved road I stopped to relax and checked the bike.

A truck stopped to have a chat and it was so hot that after just a minute the tire mark and my shoe mark was on the asphalt on the road.

Not too long after riding on paved road I hit another unexpected dirt road.

But this one didn’t want to finish.  I had to stop for a dump truck to pass and wait for all the dust behind it to settle down before continuing.

Shortly after I got to a pile of tree logs on the side of the road. DCIM174DRIFT IMG_0067 IMG_0069 DCIM174DRIFT

The rest was more of local empty country roads.

Finally got to the motel in Oak Bay, it was not a great one, but there is a lot of rain in the forecast for tonight and I don’t want to setup the tent and camp in the rain.
The bike however got a good service.  The Motel had a car wash on the back that the owner let me to use for free.
So the bike got a wash that was much needed after all the riding in dusty gravel and dirt road today and chain cleaning and got to stay under a roof overnight to avoid the rain.
