to Deal’s Gap, Day 1

Day 1, the last 24 hours was crazy busy. I had Lady’s ride in Orangeville, Mehrdad had to work almost the entire Saturday. At the last minute we decided to buy Navigon iphone app and use it as a GPS navigation and of course I had to organize the house.

Getting Ready to leave Sunday May 19,2013

But finally, we were ready, we loaded the bike and left at 11:00 am.  I took the first shift and I was a bit freaked out because the bike was very heavy. We were not sure about taking the Highway, therefore we decided to head to Niagara through the back roads. Navigon tooks us there and it did a great job. We drove through the back road of Burlington, Hamilton and Niagara.

We took a couple of breaks, one around north Burlington on a Tim Horton’s drive through and then we had lunch at ‘Backety Back’. We were starving, we had a veggie burger and pork Souvlaki.

Lunch break on Niagara before getting to border crossing

After lunch we headed to Buffalo, we had a bit of line up at the border crossing but nothing mayor. From there we drove for 2 hours through beautiful winding roads until we reached Allegany State Park in New York state at 8:00 pm. We were exhausted, but excited that we reached our first destination.

First destination: Allegany State Park

And here we are… We made it to the first campsite.
